What is a hybrid event? How does it work?

**[Confetti hybrid events](https://www.withconfetti.com/help-center/en/collections/6372688-hybrid-events)** combine **in-person** and **virtual** components to create an exciting, interactive experience that can be enjoyed by teams working in-office and at home. 🤝 Whether you're dialing in from your couch or from a conference room filled with coworkers, our friendly and engaging host will ensure that all your team members have a fun and fabulous time!

For in-office participants, we recommend using a shared projector screen or TV setup. Individuals can also choose to dial-in from their own computers. Either way, please make sure that the host is able to see all of the participants and vice versa.

Although all Confetti hybrid experiences come with remote, real-time **Zoom tech support**, it's important to note that A/V equipment and A/V setup is not included.

For the hybrid option, there are only 3 write-in rounds, no buzz-in round.

Question 2

How does Trivia work?

Custom Trivia has 4 rounds. For the first 3 write-in rounds, each team will discuss and record their answers on a digital answer sheet provided at the start of the game. For the final lightning round, participants will use a digital buzzer to buzz in and answer on behalf of their team.

For the hybrid option, there are only 3 write-in rounds, no buzz-in round.

Question 3

How do randomized teams work for a hybrid event?

Accepted Answer

In-person participants will self-organize into teams! Your host will help explain this on the day of your event. While those in-person folks are getting into teams, your host will randomly assign any virtual players into teams by using breakout rooms via Zoom. Everyone will play together in the same room!

In the event that there aren't enough virtual or in-person participants to form their own team, teams can consist of a mix of both, using their shared communication tool for discussion.

Question 4

Do all participants need a computer or phone in a hybrid setting?

For in-office participants, we recommend using a shared projector screen or TV setup, so at least one computer is needed to connect to the Zoom! All participants will need a phone to 'whisper' to their teammates about their answers and team captains will use their phones to submit answers on behalf of their team.

What themes can I choose for our custom experience?

Can I provide additional themes not listed?

Accepted Answer

At this time, the ‘theme list’ are the only customizations we are offering. We no longer have the option to fully supply your own questions and answers or additional themes as we found this didn't align with our goals of providing consistent and top-tier content. Question 7

What is the level of difficulty for this game?

Difficulty is subjective! We try to make all of our games fun but the right amount of challenging. Because it is focused on a specific topic, the questions for Custom Trivia may be slightly more challenging than our classic Trivia game, but players will still be able to make educated guesses.

That being said, it is still a great team building experience, and there’s always the potential for sparkle points!

Is this game work appropriate and international friendly?

Yes, we design all of our games with corporate and international teams in mind and plan for both frequently! The questions for Custom Trivia can be non-US centric, so they're great for international teams if you're planning with coworkers abroad.

Please make sure to enter your group details and any other relevant info in the ‘context for your host’ section of your event briefing after booking. We can’t guarantee content adjustments, but we gladly welcome feedback.

Question 9

Can I see the list of questions and answers beforehand?

As company policy, we do not provide Custom Trivia game content for approval ahead of time (and to prevent spoilers!) but rest assured that our games team creates and vets all of the questions for our hosted game experiences. 💪

Question 10

Can we create team names?

Accepted Answer

Yes! If selecting 'choose your teams' for your team assignment, we provide a sign-up sheet to fill out your players' names and team name ahead of time. If selecting 'randomized' as your team assignment, team names will be decided on the day of the event once teams are created!

Can I request a specific host?

Accepted Answer

We are unable to guarantee certain hosts for Custom Trivia, as their booking is dependent on availability. Please drop a note in the 'special requests' section when booking, and we'll do our best to make it happen. Either way, we promise you'll have a wonderful experience with any of our vetted hosts!

What communication tool do you provide?

For teams that don’t have a shared communication tool, we provide a [web chat alternative](https://tlk.io/). On the day of the event, your host will create and distribute chat links to participants via [Google Sheets](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1hFC0hOfa9OJCSdxUlBg46rhIWmdp6PGjofZLUSzg14U/edit#gid=0). No download required!

Please write in the 'shared communication tool' section that you'll need an alternative provided. In addition, let us know if your company has any firewall restrictions or if you are unable to access the links above.

Question 13

Can this experience be shortened?

Accepted Answer

Custom Trivia lasts around 60 minutes. Our hosts try to keep gameplay as close to schedule as possible, but there may be some fluctuations based on introductions, group size, and group dynamics.

If you would like this experience shortened to 45 minutes, let us know in the special requests section. Please note that some content will have to be omitted for a shorter duration. In addition, we cannot accommodate any price adjustments.

Question 14

How many winners are there? Can we award prizes?

Prizes are **not** included or required. You're welcome to source your own prizes, just drop us a note in the 'special requests' section **ahead of time**. There will be one winning team with between 3-5 players depending on final headcount.

Question 15

Can this event be recorded? Can a photo be taken?

Accepted Answer

📸 **Photos / screenshots:** Our hosts always do their best to catch a screenshot at the end of your event. If you would like a photo, feel free to remind your host at the start of your event.

📹 **Video recordings:** This event can be recorded. To ensure a recording is taken, **please request one from your host at the start of your event** - they’re happy to accommodate when asked!

What if fewer people show up than planned for?

If you would like a refund for participants who did not attend, please reach out to our support team (support@withconfetti.com) within 2 business days after your event to confirm your booking meets the criteria and we’ll refund you with Confetti Credits.
